“Sky Blue Pink Cotton” Wrap-around mini-kimono

A "mini kimono" wrap-around top in blue cotton jersey underlined by borders in lined printed vintage fabric of ik at of artisanal royal silk from Thailand.

It was by creating the range of fabrics that Julie was inspired to create this unique piece . Before having the honor of reworking these superb fabrics in her studio, the designer spent years collecting and studying the fabrics and the stories they tell. This deep interest in combining textiles of all kinds is at the heart of her creative process.

The patterned silk that was used for the lining of the belt, the cuffs and the neckline comes from Thailand, it is a precious fabric that has been woven and dyed entirely by hand using a technique called ikat.

The jersey knit gives this wrap-over a rather supple fall , while the wide borders that frame it give it a certain hold and a more structured appearance. The edges of the cuffs are perfectly finished and can therefore be rolled up, revealing the dyed patterned silk that is inside.

This crossover can be worn in three different ways:

1. crossed tightly under the bust and tied above the waist
2. crossed leaving the neckline more indented and tied a little lower
3. the sections of the belt tied at the front like a vest to wear over a long dress for example.

Made with great care and finesse, this unique piece, entirely handmade, required six hours of cutting and sewing.
