"Silk Patchwork" Vest

This Thai silk patchwork vest is very refined. It is made of an assembly of different wild silks from Thailand and an Indian sari edge woven with golden metallic thread.

• This unique piece was presented on the catwalk of the 3rd International Fashion week of the Thai silk where Julie Menuge had the pleasure of representing Belgium as a Brussels designer

• Made in Brussels, from one of the most beautiful fabrics to date included in our collections: artisanal silk, hand-woven , originating from different rural regions of Thailand. Some of its patterns were created using the ikat technique, a tie and dye performed before weaving, with exceptional finesse and precision.

• This collection gives pride of place to patchwork, and is inspired by the connections that the designer establishes between the visual and sound arts, geometry and colors, the rhythms of repeated patterns and mathematics, and above all the pleasure of creating everywhere. from a single diamond shape.

It is by composing this range of fabrics and of colors in gradient from indigo blue to rosewood, which the designer was inspired to create this unique cardigan. And before having had the honor of reworking these superb fabrics in her studio, Julie spent years collecting and studying them to enhance the stories they tell. This deep interest in combining textiles of all kinds is at the heart of her creative process.

This unique piece with exceptional fabrics reflects an authentic approach of upcycling (or overcycling) which also promotes artisanal textile know-how and creates bridges between cultures.

Made with great care and finesse, this cardigan was entirely handmade by the designer and her team in Brussels.
