"T-Rex" dress

This dress was cut from a beautiful recycled bed sheet from prehistoric times, a huge pixel print of dinosaurs.

Front: the gaping maw of a T-Rex, Back: the charge of the Stegosaurus bursting into my studio, all subtly framed by the flowers printed on an Indian cotton block print (also reused). 

The whole thing is bordered with a golden, crunchy ribbon as a necklace , punctuated by mini colored bells that really jingle.

It was while composing a range of textiles around colored grays that I was inspired to create this unique dress. And before having the honor of reworking these superb fabrics in my studio, I spent years collecting and studying fabrics and the stories they tell. This deep interest in combining textiles of all kinds is the basis of my creative process; it is by reusing fabrics that I create new assemblages.

No textile material from my workshop is thrown away; the creation of this piece is fundamentally connected to my upcycling approach.

The cut of this dress is rather flared from top to bottom , it slips on like a T-shirt, very comfortable to wear.

Crafted with great care and delicacy, this unique piece was entirely handmade in my workshop in Brussels.

• Reused printed cotton bed sheet
• Reused Indian block print: printed cotton veil reinforced by a lining (or glazing) of plain white cotton
• Short sleeves in unlined Indian cotton voile
