"Red and Black" Football Shirt

This football jersey made from a patchwork of upcycled textiles is incredibly beautiful.

I created it by assembling pieces of reused fabric, from second-hand football shirts, to give them a second life.

This unique piece was presented in Brussels, during a choreographed show that you may have attended during the Art Plus People festival . You can see the images of this parade on my Instagram account @julie_menuge

The complete collection, inspired by the world of football, places great emphasis on the patchwork technique.

I first cut vertical strips of fabric from collected football shirts. Then I assembled them to recompose and reconstruct the cut of the basic football shirt.

Made with great care and attention to detail , this jersey was entirely handmade by myself in my workshop in Brussels. It took me more than 8 hours of work to develop the color range, decide on the placement of the patterns, for the graphic composition and the sewing work up to the finishing touches.

This creation is part of my upcycling approach which, in addition to promoting artisanal textile know-how, creates bridges between cultures, such as football and fashion.
