“Okapi” dress

A "bat" dress or "boubou" dress where the stripes of a Bazin Tie & Dye from Mali and a plain cotton canvas meet.

It was the shades and shades of gray of the Bazin dye associated with denim that inspired me to create this unique dress. And before I had the honor of reworking these beautiful fabrics in my studio, I spent years collecting and studying the fabrics and the stories they tell. This deep interest in combining textiles of all kinds is the basis of my creative process.

The beautiful black and white Tie & Dye placed on the sides of the dress is a prestigious textile, originating from Mali, called Bazin. It was tied, dyed and beaten in the Wolofo Bougou district of Bamako, by the great craftsmen Modibo Samaké, Mariam Coulibaly and their teams.

The cut of this rather flared dress from bottom to top is perfectly symmetrical , without darts at chest level.

Its modestly scooped neckline can sometimes fall slightly on the shoulder.

This dress can also be worn very well in winter with woolen tights and a turtleneck sweater.

It can be tightened at the waist with an obi belt from the collection, which will give it a completely different style. This belt is sold separately on the site.

Made with great care and finesse, this unique piece, entirely handmade , required six hours of work, from researching the fabrics, through the composition of the patchwork to the manufacturing stages.
