This bomber jacket with sequins and handcrafted fabrics is a one-of-a-kind piece. It brings together different textiles in a flowery and unexpected assembly festival.
The front bib is cut from an upcycled, hand quilted "Babushka" scarf .
The sleeves are covered with reversible dusty pink and silver sequins .
The pockets are cut in an artisanal silk ikat from Thailand plated on an old patchwork of different printed fabrics.
The back consists mainly of a vintage Indian kantha, a cover made from thin layers of cotton quilted by hand.
The lining was made from vintage floral print cotton bed sheets and curtains.
It is by composing this range of fabrics that Julie, the designer was inspired to create this unique bomber jacket. And before having had the honor of reworking these superb fabrics in her studio, she spent years collecting and studying them to enhance the stories they tell. This deep interest in combining textiles of all kinds is at the heart of her creative process.
This unique piece with exceptional fabrics reflects an authentic approach to upcycling which also promotes artisanal textile know-how and creates bridges between cultures.
Unlike most bomber jackets, the cut of this model is rather fitted at the shoulders, which makes it very elegant! The chest darts have been embedded in the assembly of the slightly inclined "V" breastplate.
This jacket is fully reversible, lined in cotton and impeccably finished. It is comfortable and easy to wear, for example with simple jeans...
Made with great care and finesse, this unique piece, entirely handmade, required ten hours of work for the cut and the research of composition with the fabrics. To this must be added all the neat and meticulous sewing work dedicated to the assembly and finishing stages which were carried out by our teams in Brussels.
